FO - File Organizer
A small program that sorts the files in a folder by type and date on its own.
What was there
Tidying a downloads folder by hand is dull, and most tools either need an install or move files without showing what they will do.
How I built it
Preview is the default: the tool prints which file goes where and only moves anything once you approve.
Every move is logged, so a single command puts things back the way they were.
It ships as one file, so nothing has to be installed on the target machine.
Moves are verified, and you choose what happens when a name collides.
What I did
- Sorting rules based on extension, date, size and your own patterns.
- Preview, log-based undo, and a watch mode that tidies new arrivals.
- Single-file builds for Windows, Mac and Linux, built automatically on every version tag.
