An app that compares currencies while travelling, works out the tax free refund and tracks spending per trip.
What was there
Abroad, spending spreads across several currencies and nothing adds up once you are home.
Two questions keep coming back while shopping: what is this in my own currency, and what is left after the tax refund.
How I built it
The app does three things: compare rates, work out tax free totals and track spending per trip. It does not try to be a general budgeting app.
Expenses belong to a trip, because the conversion only makes sense inside one.
The same app runs on the web, for when the phone is not at hand.
The interface comes in Turkish and English, with light and dark themes.
What I did
- The rate comparison and calculation screen.
- Tax free maths: working out what comes back from what was spent.
- Trip and expense records, grouping by kind, and the summary.
- The web version and the App Store release.
